Building the investment case for Looe’s flood defences

“While Looe is tiny, it is a popular tourist destination and has a vibrant fishing industry, making the town’s importance to the wider local economy disproportionately large. This is the thrust of the argument for an expensive flood defence.”

Cornish coastal town Looe is under threat from flooding due to the climate crisis, but justifying the constructoin of a £100M flood defence for a 5000 population town is difficult. I spoke to Cornwall Council, WSP and the Environment Agency about how they’re doing it.
